      Becki Jelinek

      Director of Education

Ms. Becki and her husband are life-long residents of Omaha. After graduating from Millard North High School, Ms. Becki immediately began her Montessori career when she fell in love with the Montessori philosophy! Ms. Becki always had a very natural love for children and when she discovered Montessori she knew all of her instincts about children were correct.

Ms. Becki worked at a local Montessori for over six years, took the primary teacher training and left when she had her first child (Gabi) who also happens to be a staff member at The Hills. Ms. Becki has three other children and all of them were Montessori educated through eighth grade, with the exception of child number four, who is in fifth grade Montessori.

Shortly after her first child was born, Ms. Becki attended the University of Nebraska at Omaha where she pursued studies in Child Psychology.  She then went on to work in the Child Life Department at Children’s Hospital, Directed a Substance Abuse Program for Young Children (HALO) at Heartland Family Services and then opened up her own business, Family Spectrum. Family Spectrum was a FREE monthly parenting magazine, which was supplemented by a daily parenting talk radio show. Ms. Becki was the publisher/editor and host of Family Spectrum magazine and radio and did this for eight years. Ultimately she sold the magazine to Omaha magazine who still publishes it, now under the name of HER Family.

After selling her business, Ms. Becki went to work as Marketing Director at Walker Tire & Auto Service. One of her proudest accomplishments in that role was helping to create and implement a brand new permanent exhibit at the Omaha Children’s Museum, which will remain in the museum until 2018.

Early 2013 Ms. Becki began helping with the marketing and program development at The Hills and in November 2014 she joined the team full-time. She is extremely excited to be able to continue her Montessori journey in helping to support the teachers and parents at the school, as well as to help foster the students healthy growth and development.

      Marcy Thompson

      Administrative Services

Ms. Marcy recently joined the Hills Montessori staff to provide administrative support and is excited to be part of such a welcoming and well trained team. Prior to the Hills, Ms. Marcy worked 13 years in tobacco prevention and enjoyed being part of the tobacco-free movement in Nebraska. Ms. Marcy’s other work experience has included being an elementary teacher and a teacher assistant at two childcare sites in Omaha. One of the sites was a home-based Montessori school which gave her an appreciation of a Montessori education. At each of these positions, she enjoyed getting to know the children, appreciating their uniqueness, and finding interesting ways to help them learn. One area in education you will be certain to see her doing at the Hills is reading to the children. This is one area she cherished growing up and considers critical to early development and beyond.

Ms. Marcy has a BA in Elementary Education from Creighton University and a MA in Health Education from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. She will continue to gain experience and expertise in early childhood education and with her administrative duties. Her mission is to provide support as needed to help the Hills staff and students thrive and grow. It is an adventure that she looks forward too!
